“I’ve nothing to wear.”

I’ll assume you’ve experienced that; looking into your closet, sighing, and claiming you have “nothing to wear.” Perhaps that needs some rethinking – and checking out The Uniform Project, a New York City-based blog exploring the premises behind living in one dress for a year.

Sheena Matheiken started the project in May 2009, pledging to wear a single dress, each day, for a  year, as an exercise in sustainable fashion.

And so far, she’s been committed to the cause.

Every day, with piles of accessories and additions (most of which are vintage or used), she reinvents the dress with a different dash of style.

The Uniform Project is combined with a year-long fundraiser for the Akanksha Foundation, a grassroots organization working to change education in India, where Matheiken was raised. After the year is over, all contributions will go toward Akanksha’s School Project to fund uniforms and other educational expenses for children living in India’s slums.
