Quick flooring reno: paint ‘em
We have to give paint its props. It can change our walls and furniture in a snap, giving our home a fresh new look with little time and cost. But what about for our floors, too? Instead of staining, varnishing, or putting in brand new flooring, giving your floors a fresh coat of paint is a great way to add interest, change, and a whole new look.
This simple do-it-yourself project can easily be done with flooring paint in just a few easy steps.
Step One: Prep
Before you do any painting, sand the floor to a smooth surface, then pull out the vacuum and get rid of the dust. Wipe the floor with a damp cloth to ensure that all debris is gone.
Step Two: Prime
Apply a single coat of an oil-based primer. Let dry for twenty-four hours.
Step Three: Paint
Wipe the floor once more to rid any extra dust, then apply a single coat of an oil-based paint. Let dry about twenty-four more hours. Repeat this step once or twice more.
