Car door detects hazards
A new technology is developing in Germany that keeps doors closes when they sense oncoming traffic or potential impact.
Heading the project are BMW’s Michael Graf and a team at Technical University of Munich are pioneering the project. They’ve discovered a way to use ultrasonic sensors that dectect hazards coming towards the car doors. As the impact nears, a bar that runs through the vechicle door prevents it from opening.
This technology is potentially on its way in the next 12 months, as recent testing has only been successful.
