Pier 1 Imports and UNICEF have come together again for their 20th annual Greeting Card Contest.
If you know a child from the United States, between the ages of 0 and 14, and pretty savvy in their art skills, they can submit an original artwork for the annual contest.
The collaboration of the two companies is celebrating it’s 20th year. Pier 1 Imports and UNICEF are inviting children to submit their original artwork starting February 1 through March 12.
True to its tradition, the winning design–often chosen from thousands of entries–will be reproduced as an official UNICEF holiday greeting card for the 2011 holiday season, and sold at Pier 1 Imports stores nationwide.
One hundred percent (that’s right, 100%) of the proceeds from the sales of the winning card go to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF. This helps in its mission to decrease the number of deaths from 22,000 to zero.
The theme of this year’s contest is “Making Spirits Bright.” The winner receives a $5,000 scholarship, as well as $500 worth of art supplies for their school. Additionally, there is a “Fan’s Choice Award,” in which folks can log onto the Pier 1 website (www.pier1.com) and vote for their favorite design. The “Fan’s Choice” winner will receive $500 worth of art supplies.
The voting is done from April 7 to April 22 and the winners are announced in late April.
Beginning February 1st, entry forms will be available at all Pier 1 Imports stores nationwide, online at www.pier1.com and www.unicefusa.org, and by calling Pier 1’s Customer Relations Department at 1-800-245-4595.
All entries must be hand-drawn and received by Pier 1 Imports’ Corporate Headquarters by March 12th. The entries will be judged on artistic quality, as well as creative interpretation of the theme “Making Spirits Bright.”
Funds from the sale of these cards support UNICEF programs that provide lifesaving medicines, vaccines, nutritious foods, primary education, clean water and sanitation and emergency relief for millions of children and women in more than 150 countries.
